NEWS & NOTES
Yardi Systems Acquires DIY Real Estate Solutions
|
|
New Levels of Client Service and Technical Innovation
On May 5, 2010, Yardi Systems
and DIY Real Estate Solutions announced Yardi’s acquisition of DIY.
Said DIY’s Steve Lloyd: “Independent
rental owners comprise a significant portion of the multifamily market, and
they will benefit because a range of affordable products and services will
become more easily accessible. We are excited to join DIY’s talents and
technology to those of the Yardi team, and we anticipate new levels of client
service and technical innovation to result from the combination of these two
industry leaders.”
In addition to Steve Lloyd, co-founders
Don Katt and Alison Cavano, who were major contributors to the success of MRI
Software for the last 20 years, will remain with the company. The acquisition
of DIY adds a complete, integrated property management system designed for
companies that manage 1,000 or fewer units. Yardi Genesis™ will continue to
be offered to small property managers as a work station program. DIY will
enable Yardi to provide Web solutions for small property managers.

You can also learn more about
DIY’s future directions and share your product experiences in person at the
National Apartment Association (NAA) Education Conference & Expo later
this month. DIY will be exhibiting as part of the Yardi booth from June 24th
to 26th. We always look forward to meeting and talking with our
clients. We hope to see you there!

NEW ON YOUR SCREEN
Paying
Your Bills Electronically
|
|
We’re proud to
announce that a new option is available on the “Pay Bills” page – the
Electronic Payment method. You can now select your invoices for electronic
payment. After you have selected your invoices for payment, be sure that the “Electronic
Payment” option is selected as your “Payment Method” (see below). Then click
the “Pay Bills” button.

When the Confirmation
page loads, you will be notified of any missing bank account information. You
can enter that information right from the confirmation page. Once all
vendors’ bank information is saved, simply confirm that the desired vendors
are selected and click the “Pay Bills” button.

It’s that easy! The
payment will be sent to Solveras for processing and the entry will be made in
your register.
Please note that in
order to pay bills electronically, you will need to be a Solveras merchant
account holder. That same merchant account can be used to receive electronic
rent payments from your tenants. For more information on opening a merchant
account with our integrated electronic payment processing partner Solveras,
contact DIY today.

DIY has made it
incredibly easy to run credit and criminal checks on all of your applicants.
Just enroll in our credit screening service, complete the quick setup (it’s
only two fields!) and you’re ready to receive screening results in mere
seconds. You’ll receive instant access to payment history, credit-worthiness,
as well as criminal background information through nation’s largest criminal
database.
This convenient service
is provided by our partner, Credit Retriever, a leader in tenant screening
services. Their scoring model is designed specifically for the residential
property management industry.
Our seamless

QUICK
TIPS
Printing from DIY with Internet Explorer Version 8
|
|
With the release of
Internet Explorer Version 8, Microsoft has added additional security
safeguards. While these changes help to keep your system safe when surfing
the Internet, you may need to make an easy adjustment to print from DIY’s
website.
If you are using
Internet Explorer Version 8 and receive the message “An error has occurred
during this operation” when trying to print, this tip is for you. You will
need to add DIY to your Trusted Sites list. To do this, go to the Tools menu
in Internet Explorer and click the Internet Options. Click the Security tab. Click
the Trusted sites zone, then click the Sites button below.
Enter
https://www.diyres.com in the “Add this website to the zone” box and then
click the Add button. Be sure that the “Require server verification” checkbox
at the bottom of this screen is NOT checked. Finally, simply exit Internet
Explorer for this change to take effect.
